What Are The Minimum Driver Qualifications

Pacer’s program continues to be an “Industry Leader” --  in addition to attracting solid operators, our program also assists in enhancing our Agency Network for the benefit of all concerned. The program is simple with no hidden costs or charges, and continues to cover Road & Fuel Taxes with no insurance revenue adjustments. During these difficult times it is our job to support your efforts to drive defensively, safely, and in compliance with D.O.T. regulations.

• Minimum Ages -  22 years.
   

• Commercial Drivers License ( CDL ) - Must possess a valid / current drivers license (CDL) issued by the state in which the driver resides.  The CDL must be of the type and class of vehicle to be operated and include all appropriate endorsements.
   

• Medical Certification - Must possess a valid / current / verifiable medical certificate and long form physical examination with a minimum of sic (6) months remaining prior to expiration.
   

• Driving Experience - Must have one (1) year verifiable experience in the type and class of vehicle to be operated.
   

• Accidents - No more than two (2) preventable accidents within the previous three (3) years.  One serious accident may disqualify the applicant depending on the circumstances of the accident.
   

• Moving Violations - No more than three (3) moving violations within previous three (3) years.  One significant violation may disqualify the driver based upon the nature of the violation and the overall circumstances of the event.
   

• Drug and / or Alcohol Testing - No conviction for driving under the influence of drugs and / or alcohol while operating a commercial motor vehicle, regardless of the date of the conviction.  No conviction for driving under the influence of alcohol while operating a private vehicle within the previous five (5) years.  No conviction for reckless driving within the previous five (5) years.
   

• Criminal Convictions
  The following are disqualifying criminal offenses:
  1.  Any criminal convection involving a commercial motor vehicle.
  2.  Any felony conviction within the previous seven (7) years.
  3.  Any conviction within the previous (7) years involving theft, fraud, dishonesty, or drugs.

Driver and owner operators will be reviewed, approved or disqualified based on an overall evaluation of their qualification, experience, investigative information, and safety performance.  Final approval related to qualifying, hiring, leasing, disqualifying, terminating, or de-leasing and applicant or driver will be at the sole discretion of
Pacer International Management.
